It’s Monday! What are you reading?

You know it’s going to be a good week when your computer crashes haha.  I just have my fingers crossed that the IT people at the college know what’s wrong with it.  I know I’m being impatient since they have only had it for a day, but I realllllly miss it.  Not as much as Bridget misses soccer in The Second Summer of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares, though.

In this sequel to The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, the girls again branch out during from one another over summer vacation.  This summer Bridget lets her memories of Eric drive her a little crazy, Carmen’s concern for her mother’s new dating life drives her a little crazy, Tibby again is crazy about film, and Lena is still a little crazy for Kostos.  Reading that sentence makes the story sound a little… boy crazy (sorry last use of the word ‘crazy’, I promise.)  And it kind of is!  But I had to take a step back and remember that this is a story about teenage girls; for the most part, teenage girls are boy-obsessed.  Actually, as Carmen’s mom demonstrates, anyone diligently looking for love is a little obsessed with finding it.  So although I found that to be a wee bit overwhelming (I kept thinking to myself do you people know how to think about anything other than boys?) I had to remember that that is what many YA readers are concerned about.  I know I was.

Overall, I would rate this book 3 out of 5 stars.  I enjoyed the first book a bit more, but it is still a very good story.

(Side note: Today is Tuesday and I just got my laptop back.  It’s reset to factory settings so all my stuff is all gone, but YAY!!! You never know how much you rely on something until it’s gone!)
